For Ronald Gumbligger, there was nowhere better than the zoo. It was simply the most magnificent place in the world. He was very eager to see the zoo on the grounds of the IWU, so he awoke early one weekend morning and made his way down.
Through the grand gates at the entrance he walked through to see many enclosures, each representing the natural habitats of the animals. Splendid. Much better than that cage rubbish used at some zoos! As much as he loved Muggle animals, his passion was really in Magical Creatures. It had been since he was very young, and it was not about to change. Hence him taking the position of Magizoology Head of Department.
As his legs began to tire, he perched himself on the edge of a bench and just enjoyed the surroundings. As time went by, more people began to enter the zoo.

Hikari had gone about the place to explore. Her first stop was the zoo. She entered the gates, careful to observe her surroundings. Her fangs were out and her eyes were a crimson red shade. She had learned to control her abilities some time ago and found this her most comfortable form. She wore a long-sleeve black shirt with a sleeveless crimson shirt with a high collar over it. Her pants were long and black and she wore light black boots.
Placing her hands in her pockets, Hikari wandered around the place. She received some stares when people noticed her eye color, but she ignored them. She looked around, eventually stopping at an enclosure near a bench. Said bench had a person already occupying it, so she didn't go to it to sit down.
Instead, Hikari just watched the enclosure for any signs of life. So far there wasn't an animal in her sights, though she could hear the leaves rustling so it was there, she just had to be patient. Silently, she wondered what magical creature was in there.

Professor Gumbligger noticed a girl approach, but then hesitate when she saw him there. Since he knew very few people at the university yet, he decided this would be a good chance to get to know someone. And maybe she was even going to be stduying Magizoology, his course!
So from where he sat, he gestured her over with his hand, and then waited for her to come to him.

Hikari saw the gesture the guy gave her out of the corner of her eye. She mentally gave a shrug and decided to see what he wanted. It wasn't like she couldn't take care of herself if worse came to worse. She observed him for a moment first before walking over and sitting down next to him on the bench.
Her crimson eyes skimmed over his figure first, calculating how much of a threat he might pose. When she was done with her small observations she finally spoke. "You wanted to speak with me," she more stated than asked.
The guy was older than her so he was probably a professor here, that or a very old student. However the former was more likely than the latter, so she would speak with him if he so pleased.

Professor Gumbligger was delighted that she had come over to speak with him. He streched his arm out in front of her and introduced himself. "Hello, Professor Gumbligger, I teach Magizoology here." He then guessed he better explain why he had wanted her. "I just wanted to get to know some people before term begins, since I am only knew around here." He waited for her to respond.

Hikari nodded to his answer to her question. "I'm Hikari Sorano," she said, "I'm studying to become and Auror." Her crimson eyes looked around her surroundings before falling back to him. "I just got here yesterday," she said, "so I don't really know anyone either."

"Aaaahh, an auror, that would be neat, wouldn't it? So, you must be a highly educated young witch, only the best make it into that course." Professor Gumbligger observed the girl, or more to the point, her crimson eyes. Having a wealth of knowledge, he detected it quickly. She was a dhampir.
He spent the next few seconds wondering whether or not to let her know that he knew. Sure, Gumby! Why not? "Another useful thing in your case also Hikari, is being a dhampir. They make excellent vampire hunters." He left it at that and waited to see how she reacted to his observations.

Hikari nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, it does take a lot to be an Auror," she said, "many people don't make it passed all the first tests, then you must train at least three years." She looked once again to the enclosure to see the movement of an animal, though it moved too fast for her to figure out what it was exactly.
Hikari was not surprised he figured out what she was. Her crimson eyes were a dead giveaway to anyone with the appropriate knowledge. "Yes, being a dhampir is useful," she said, "they are very rare and make excellent hunters, not just for vampires. Though they are best as vampire hunters. Even so, the least I could do would be intimidate my query with my fangs." She gave a smirk at her last comment.

"I bet you could Hikari, those fangs are quite vicious I'd say!" He followed her crimson eyes to see what she was looking at. She was focused on one of the creatures in an enclosure. "So what brought you here, Hikari? To the zoo, I mean."

Hikari grinned to show her fangs more at his comment. At the moment her fangs weren't at full size, but still very visible. In the enclosure she could see the creature move again, and still it seem to evade identification. "I'm here to, get to know the places around here," she said, "any special reason your here at the zoo?"

Any special reason?!?! Maybe she didn't hear his comment of what course he teaches here. "Well, being the Magizoology professor here, I am fascinated by magical creatures and enjoy their presence. I guess the zoo is simply my favourite place to be!" It was true, he was very fond of animals, and he would probably be a Magizoology teacher for the rest of his life. There was only one other course he would love to teach, and that was Law and Politics. It was not offered here at the university yet, but if he had his way it would be introduced sometime in the next few years. "What's your favourite magical creature?" It just came out...

Hikari could have figured out that was why he was here, but she thought he might have had a different reason and so asked anyway. "The zoo is a nice place to come for that," she agreed. His next question seemed unexpected, but she didn't mind. He was the professor in that field and he seemed to love his job very much so why not ask that question. "I like a dragon, for its strength and will," she said, "but I also like a pheonix as it can be reborn from its ashes. Like how someone would start a new life. Do you have a favorite, or do you like them all equally?"

"It is great Hikari, that you put thought into your favourites, and like them for a reason. I can see you are going to get far in life, you are a highly educated young witch." He pondered on her question. His favourite creature. He liked so many of them. The phoenix, the puffskein, dragons, he even liked the acromantula! But his favourite had to be the centaur. "My favourite creature would have to be the centaur. Why, they are such intelligent creatures, yet also dangerous, full of speed and often rather argumentitive. I am still in awe over them and how perfect they seem to be." The sun was beginning to warm up the zoo, which was now covered in a golden llight, illuminating all the creatures in their habitat enclosures.

"Centaurs are wonderful creatures," she said, "they are very wise and skilled in reading the stars." Kaihi turned her attention back to the enclosure only to see cat eyes looking back at her. The creature looked much like a cat and had large ears, a spotted coat, and a lion-like tail. it took a moment but she soon recognized the animal.
"So thats what you are," Kaihi said to the creature, who had come to the edge of the enclosure nearest the bench. She looked at the creature curiously. "A kneazle," she said.

Professor Gumbligger let out his usual hearty chuckle, which people who knew him well were very accustomed to. "I have been wondering myself all morning what on earth it was, but now the sun is out I can finally tell!"
He glanced around the large enclosure, looking for other kneazles. At this zoo, the creatures were always left as if in a natural environment, and kneazles were not solitary creatures. "There's another one! Behind that tree. You see it?"
