The latest applicant had arrived and the Headmaster gestured for her to take a seat on the other side of his desk. "Welcome, thank you for coming." He paused for a moment, allowing for her to sit down, before getting into the questions. "So, you are interested in a position in the divination department, interesting choice. May I begin by asking what interests you in teaching here at the university?

Gwen walked towards the chair opposite the Headmaster's desk and sat nerviously. She looked up at the Headmaster, who was greeting her and had already strated with the questions. She took a calm breath, and answered. "Thank you very much for your time, Headmaster. Yes, I would very much like to teach at the university, as I have always sensed that it is a need in humanity to give your knoweldege to the youngest, who can eveolve this knoweldege and teach it to others likewise. You see, without this, life wouldn't make sense, as there would be no evolution. I think teaching is the most important and noblest of the actions a person can make. "

The Headmaster scribbled down notes on his piece of parchment. Her answer was very impressive. He moved on, eager to get the interview finished so he could go home for the day. "Good answer, very true. And more specificly, what draws you to chose to work at a university rather than one of the various wizading schools?"

Gwen smiled. "I am not very attracted to the idea of teaching to teenagers. Most of them don't really care about what they are learning, but are just in class because they have to. I know it because we all lived it. In university, however, I know that students will take the best advantage of what they learn. We are talking about a more mature group of students, who are here because they want to. I don't think I could stand teenagers very much, I'd lose my patience. But adults are different, and I can trust them more, specially if it is about giving them the secrets of the arts I studied."

The Headmaster nodded at Gwen's answer. "I agree completely. I have had the experience of teaching at both, and I must say I preferred universities for much the same reasons." He took down a few more notes before meeting the gaze of his applicant. "So where have you come from, career wise? Tell me a little about the careers you have done in your life time."

"Well, I was born in the UK but I had to grow up and go to school in Argentina. As soon as I finished, I went to England to study Divination in general more deeply. That is to say, palm-reading, tea leaves, some astrology and my favourite, arithmancy. And as for the teaching experience, I have been teacher assistant of a friend who gives the animagi class on a school for a year now. But now I would like to give the classes myself, instead of just preparing them, and do it for something that I really know about and love".

"Interesting" the Headmaster scribbled down more notes furiously. So far he was impressed with this applicant. "Now, how are you with students? Do you find it easy to talk in front of large groups? Especially when you get the cheeky ones! How would you deal with a student misbehaving?"

"I have no problem speaking to large groups, as long as the students respect me. If someone disrespected me or misbehaved, I would just make them leave my class. I wouldn't tolerate it. And then, of course, I would do whatever is in the university rules for more serious things."

The Headmaster jotted down her answers again. He then produced a tarot card: the world. He placed it on the desk between them, facing Gwen. "Miss Lovegood, what can you tell me about this particular card? What is its meanings?" He was interested to see how good her knowledge of divination was.

Gwen examined the card, and turned it to face her. "Ah, the world. Layed down like this, it means final change, ending, perfection. The final result of all the efforts. Success. Fullfillment. Admiration from the rest, good results of events in spite of other signs. You could say it is a really good card, specially when it is surrounded with similar cards, as the sun." Gwen now turned the card to face the Headmaster opposite her. "But on the other hand, layed like this, it has quite the opposite meaning. Imperfection, an impossibility to complete the task started. Lack of vision, disorientation, disilussionment." Gwen faced the Headmaster.

The Headmaster was impressed at Gwen's knowledge. "Excellent, you sure know your cards!" He wrote this down. He could think of nothing more he wanted to ask, so he closed up his folder and smiled at the applicant. "Ok, that is all. Do you have any questions before you leave?"

Gwen thought for a moment. There was only one question that had been haunting her head from the moment she had applied for the job. "Actually, there is one thing, Headmaster. What level of knoweldege are students required to have on the subject before entering a class?" This question may have seemed a but strange, but she needed to know, if she got the job, where to start.

"Well, students are expected to get top levels in their NEWT's as a pre-requisite to getting into any university course. However from the start we do cover a bit of the basics, just to go over things and reinforce knowledge. Does that answer your question?" The headmaster looked at her and waited for a reply.

Gwen frowned. She had never given the NEWT exams, as she had gone to school in Argentina. Yet she recalled reading about them during her studies in UK, and the level of knoweldege they required. Gwen smiled, looked at the Headmaster and said "Yes, Headmaster. I think it does. Thank you very much."
